Google Has Introduced New Android Add-ons

Recently, Google announced Android add-ons for Docs and Sheets. The new add-ons can be downloaded within Google Docs and Sheets, as well as applications that are found on the Google Play store. You'll be able to use these add-ons for things such as preparing a contract for e-signing or to pull CRM data into the spreadsheet you're working on.

Google has worked with a number of partners for the first set of add-ons. For example, you'll be able to complete a signing process in Sheets or Docs by using the add-on DocuSign. Another add-on, ProsperWorks, will let you pull CRM data into your sheets. AppSheet will let you use data in sheets to create mobile apps, while Scanbot will allow you to scan documents using OCR.

PandaDoc, Teacher Aide, EasyBin and ZohoCRM are other partners. Furthermore, Google has introduced its educational platform called Classroom.

Those who want to access the add-ons can do so from add-on menus in Google Docs and Sheets on mobile. This is in addition to Google Play.

For years, add-ons have been common to software programs for desktop computers. It's also worth mentioning that Google has a large list of third-party plugins that can be used with Google Drive and Google Apps. However, more and more people are using their phones to access office programs and this is one of the reasons Google has taken this mobile approach, which is the first time it has done so.

Supported Android Add-ons can be found in Google Play, but the chances are more partners will be brought into the mix, so expect the list to expand in the near future.

Is Suretrader Good? Yes!

The Internet has made stock trading easy for most people. However, a high percentage of Internet investors think they are entering a get rich quick scheme; hence beginner investors lose millions of dollars a year. Investors recognize the need for professional web-based training and the SureTrader brokers have risen to the challenge.

SureTrader was founded in 2008 and it is part of Swiss American Securities Ltd. Guy Gentile, the founder, based the business in the Bahamas. This means the business is regulated by the Bahamas Securities and Exchange Commission rather than the US Security and Exchange Commission. SureTrader investors are not bound by PDT (Pacific Day Trader Rule) which places restrictions on investors who have less than $25,000 on account. Furthermore, SureTrader investors don't require large amounts of money to commence trading. So, is Suretrader good? The answer is a resounding yes!

The SureTrader website is a little outdated which can make it difficult to navigate, however, the pricing is competitive. The company offer a live customer support service which can be accessed by clicking a link.

Traders who wish to sign up with SureTrader must scan proof of identity including a current utility bill and new accounts are activated in a couple of days.

SureTrader operates from three investment platforms, hence investors can check their accounts wherever they can access the Internet.

Google's Tax Avoidance Move

Bermuda has no corporate income tax, and one of the companies that has most recently benefited from this is Google. The company moved around $10 billion on profits to the small island country, and managed to avoid around $2 billion in income tax.

Both the US and the UK government have frowned upon this method of tax avoidance, perhaps because both countries are fighting huge deficits at the moment. A recent move which may go some way towards dealing with these tax avoidance measures is one by the European Union to blacklist certain tax havens, and to promote anti abuse rules.

Most European governments disapprove of the tax avoidance strategy that Google and other companies have adopted, according to Richard Murphy, of UK based Tax Research LLP. He went on to say that either services will need to be scaled back, or other taxpayers will somehow have to pay more to compensate for Google's non payment of their taxes.

On the other hand, Google points out that it has invested in several European countries with great success, and that it is complying with all the tax laws. In addition, Google has invested heavily in east London tech companies and currently has around 2,000 employees in the UK.

The Yahoo CEO - Marissa Mayer

Marissa Mayer

In October 2012, Marissa Mayer, Yahoo CEO, made her first report on earnings during a conference. She reported that she was happy with the company's progress in the third quarter. She also shared that Yahoo has been working with Microsoft to improve the search capabilities. However, the folks on Wall Street are still interested in the plan for reviving the company's revenue growth.

The former CEO had a more media centric approach but today, the company is revamping its products and underlying technology. Just last July, one day before the company's second quarter earnings were released, Mayer was hired. Therefore, she was not a part of Yahoo's review of the second quarter results. Mayer has recruited a Google advertising executive, Mr. Castro who is to start work in January 2013 as the chief operating officer. Mayer has also hired a new chief financial officer. In addition, this new CEO will be giving employees free meals, like Google does, and free smartphones. She has also been considering revamping Yahoo's home page. Compared to the previous year, Yahoo ended this third quarter with 12% less employees.

Mayer has been working hard to keep stockholders contented by distributing some of the proceeds from Yahoo's $7.6 billion deal for selling half of the company's stake in the Alibaba Group. It is projected that Yahoo will have earnings of 26 cents per share on a revenue of $1.08 billion. Therefore, Mayer seems to be doing a good job with Yahoo and is seeking to continuously improve the site.

Wal-Mart Acquires OnRiot For Social Media Sites

Wal-Mart Supercenter Torreon

OneRiot is a social and mobile ad targeting startup now owned by Walmart.   While the financial terms of the acquisition have not been revealed, the startup is joining with Wal-mart Labs.
OnRiot has changes its model of doing business, by closing down the search portal that used real-time and now monetizes exclusively through the use of real time advertising.  The startup has also moved to provide a service targeting social services using apps with embedded mobile ads.

OneRiot first made its peak into the world of advertising during 2009 with the introduction of RiotWise.  This ad format placed the emphasized content into position using the real-time feed.  Later they introduced Trending adds by RiotWise.  These streaming adds correspond to the topics that are trending in the user's social web.  They are self refreshing and a self service edition of RiotWise.

Today, OneRiot provides opportunities for advertisers to target segments of their audience on mobile devices.  This allows targeting for busy moms, techies, sports fans and fashionistas.  Use of targeting and segmentation allows the advertisers to focus on the interest profiles of their audience, conversations and social influences.  The audience profiles of OneRiot are created through mining as well as analysis of public social streams such as Twitter.

The capability for this style of data mining was the attraction for Wal-mart to Onriot.  Walmart has announced that OneRiot has developed useful technology that can help advertisers make the most of Facebook and Twitter.  The ads displayed are customized to interest of customers.

Wal-mart seems to have made interesting investments in the areas of social media, mobile devices and targeted spaces.  Earlier in year, they acquired Kosmix.  This company also joined Walmart Labs, and is now integrating the technology into both the mobile and online offerings of the company in sites such as Facebook, the e-commerce website and other places on the web.

Information About Investing In Google

English: The corner of Wall Street and Broadwa...

Recently Brent Callinicos, Vice President of Google, recently posted on his blog that reminded accountants and treasurers that their sale of Motorola's set top box business is a terminated operation. However, those who are thinking about investing in Google do not seem to be taking this into account. For instance, a lot of Wall Street's analysts who cover Google haven't echoed these thoughts.

The result of the failure to recognize this ceased business operation is that the price of stock shares have dropped by approximately 1 billion dollars, which means that the profit per share is down by approximately 0.40 cents. Even Doug Anmuth from J.P. Morgan has lowered his numbers to 11.4 billion dollars in revenue and 10.19 dollars in EPS for the month of December. The street average is 12.3 billion dollars and EPS of 10.54 dollars.

It is anticipated that Google will provide their outcome after they close on January 22. This may cause those who are investing in Google to become somewhat confused, especially when they first receive the numbers. This is because it may seem as though Google has missed both the top and the bottom line. Of course, this depends upon the results' effect.

Google Earnings Release October 2012

Image representing Larry Page as depicted in C...
Image via CrunchBase
In a few days time Google will release its quarterly earnings. The figures are due to be delivered on the 18TH October as the market closes for trading. Larry Page the Chief Executive Officer of Google has already intimated that the company has had a highly successful three months and that profits are up by around 24%. Page is happy to report that the gambles they took concerning YouTube, Android and Chrome have indeed paid dividends. This means that the latest google earnings release will be welcome news for its investors.

Google behind the numbers:  In the main the majority of the vast sum of money that is earned every year comes from publicising. Around one billion people use the giant search engine every month; in real terms this means that one person out of seven uses Google on a regular basis. Thinking again in terms of google behind the numbers - add up the time that is spent using the giant search engine and it is in excess of two hundred billion minutes a year. Google consumes mammoth amounts of electricity, somewhere in the region of two hundred and sixty million watts per year.

The Board of Directors were happy to give the go ahead to a proposed stock dividend; this means that the company as a whole can concentrate on its long term goals. As the google earnings release draws ever closer it is time for investors to realise that they have a stake in an exciting company. Google has stood by its promise and it has improved people's lives.  Technology may still be in its infancy but Google has a lot more to offer in the future.

Google: Behind the Numbers

It would probably come as no surprise to learn that Google’s annual revenue increases each year and arguably the most popular site on the internet. In 2010, Google’s revenue was more than $29 billion. One would have to combine the GDPs of the world’s 28 poorest countries to reach this amount. The vast majority of this revenue comes from advertising, with only 3% coming from other products and services. An increasingly high number is expected to come from mobile advertisements.

Several factors make this high revenue possible. This popular search engine gathers one billion unique visitors each month. That is one in every seven people on the entire planet. These people spend 200 billion minutes each month on Google. That would mean that each visitor spends 200 minutes there each month, on average. Google’s expansion into email, social networking and other services has made the website even more popular.

The Facebook IPO Will Happen as Early as April 2012

Image representing Facebook as depicted in Cru...Image via CrunchBaseThe long anticipated Facebook IPO will materialize in 2012 between April and June. This is according to a Wall Street Journal report that was released on Monday.

The report is based on observations made by people who are considered to be familiar with the public offering. According to these sources, Facebook wants to offload 10 percent of its shares to the public to raise $10 billion. This will put the value of the company at approximately $100 billion or more. While this valuation might seem too high, another report that was released in June quoted a similar figure.

If it comes to pass, the IPO will be among the biggest in the history of corporate America and the entire world. The IPO would be bigger than Google's IPO that raised $23 billion in the year 2004.

Initially, Facebook was rumored to be preparing to go public between January and April 2012. However, recent reports had indicated that the IPO had been scheduled for September.

The Journal cautioned that Facebook has not yet made a final decision. The dates may change and the valuation of the company might also vary.

The Best Businesses of 2011

Image representing Google as depicted in Crunc...Image via CrunchBase

The 2009 financial meltdown is the greatest crisis the corporate world has seen since the Great Depression of 1929. Many businesses went under and were utterly destroyed, some are still staggering from the effects of the depression. Some were not heavily inflicted and have withstood the tough times. These are the best businesses of the year which are showing great signs of recovery. The year 2010 was the recovery period where many companies and businesses were nursing wounds afflicted by the crisis. I can therefore bet the best businesses of 2011.

Google Inc
Google is an American public corporate that has highly invested in web search, cloud computing, and advertising. Google has developed very many internet based services and other technology products. It generates profit primarily from advertising from advertising through
its Ad Words program.

The net income for the last quarter, which ended on 31st December 2010, increased by 9% to almost $2.5 billion. This translates to about $8 per share. This is a remarkable achievement for Google compared to the $2 billion or $6 per share in the quarter of 2009. Its annual turnover
rose by a stunning 25%, from $6.6 billion to $8.44. The sites owned by Google contributed about 68% of the sales while other affiliated websites accounted for the remaining 22% of the
income. Most of the income was mainly from the US, followed by the United Kingdom and then the rest of the world. The paid clicks on the special ads viewed on affiliated sites grew by 17.9% compared to 11.1% in the previous year. The mean cost per click also rose by more than 4% compared to the previous year. In all of the year 2010, the net income for Google grew by 30% from$6.5 billion to $8.5 billion and its revenue increased by over 20% from $24 billion to almost $30 billion. Also Google shares rose in value by almost 2% that is $12, in the after-hours trade just after releasing of the financial figures.

AT&T Inc

AT&T is the biggest provider of telephone services in America. It also provides high speed broadband services as well as television subscription services. AT&T headquarters are situated in Dallas, Texas. As of 2010, it had more than 100 million mobile customers. Forbes magazine listed it as the 14th largest company by world market value. It is also recognized as one of the leading worldwide providers of IP-based communications services to businesses. AT&T also has the fastest mobile nation's fastest mobile broadband network and the largest international coverage of any U.S. wireless carrier, offering the most phones that work in the most countries plus the largest Wi-Fi network in the United States based on branded and operated hotspots; and the largest number of total broadband connections in the United States.

AT&T also has the exclusive rights to carry the iPhone and the choice carrier for the iPad. This helped the company by protecting it from its competitors like Verizon Wireless. AT&T gets more than 39% of its sales from its wireless operations. With the more than 5 million users of the iPhone AT&T definitely has an edge over its competitors and boosted its earnings. AT&T's earnings were also largely boosted by the radical cost cutting measures it took to survive the financial crisis.

As of the last quarter in 2010, it earned $3 billion, meaning 50 cents per share. In the previous year at the same period, the company made $2.39 billion, or 40 cents per share. The turnover for the last quarter registered a small drop of about 0.69% to about $31 billion due to weak sales in one of its local phone business.

General Electric

General Electric is an American corporation whose global headquarters are in Fairfield, Connecticut. The company has diversified and has five subsidiaries: Technology, Energy, Capital Finance, NBC and Consumer and industrial. Forbes magazine ranks it as the 3rd largest company based on its assets, profits and sales. The company has more than 250,000 employees worldwide

The company was greatly affected by the global economic crisis and made very huge losses in 2009. However the company’s fortunes have now turned around and its financial performance has greatly increased. It has come through better and a lot wiser.

In the year 2010, its growth was sustained and grew despite of the effects of the poor economy. Its earnings increased by almost 15%. Its capital earnings rebounded sharply and the company’s dividends doubled. The stock price also shot up to 21%. General Electric (GE) corporation earned $14,200,000,000 in profits in 2010, although for two consecutive years in a row the company has not paid federal taxes. The year 2011 is looking great for the company as the economy is showing signs of improvement.
